Winter activities

The weather in Europe is still not to good. So a good time to spend the office hrs good. Taking bookings for airshows and making reservations.
2010 will be a fun season, Nice displays in Holland and abroad. Soon we will be able to announce some good news.
This winter Frank commuted up and down between California an The Netherlands. You never know where he is :-)
We got some great feedback from his keynote speeches in San Diego.
He will do some more and is looking forward to it. At the moment he is preparing some serious flying activities in the States.
First step is a new hangar. In San Diego. Will be fun.......:-)
Within the next few weeks Frank will also fly some more helicopter and do his rating. Finally his license has been authenticated. (9-11 stuff :-()
At Facebook we will keep you informed what is happening in the Wild West.

Movie

A week or two ago I talked about one of the best new movies I have seen. Avatar. Lots of you will have it seen in the meantime.
Two days ago I went to Crazy hart from Jeff Bridges and Robert Duvall. Well folks , i can tell you, without any doubt the worst movie I have EVER seen. And, I have seen a few. (E.g. Perfect Storm with  George Clooney)
Just wanted to share this with you. Would you believe, the Americans gave him an award for this Cliche of Cliche's. Worse is not possible. Bridges produced the movie with Duvall. Guys, try tennis, or golf, or sailing, but never ever produce a movie again!

Veteran

Flying airshows and racing all around the world I had the privilege to meet a lot of interesting and special people. When I was invited to tour the Midway I met a very special veteran. He is 88 years old, survived wars, 5 hart attacks, 5 by-passes, 5 strokes en is going to get married for the 3rd time.
His name is Tom Casenza. What an inspiring and sparkling personality! This (as you can see) tine man, is a fighter with great spirit. His stories made me laugh a lot and gave me so much energy. If this man can be so sparkling at 88, he is definitely motivating me........:-) And you know, he is a good dancer. I straight away recognized his jitterbug knees. :-))))))))

Choppr

It has been 11 years ago since I did my helicopter rating, and I had the rating expire. :-(
Way to expensive to fly choppers for fun in Europe. But, here in California it was quite easy and affordable to renew my rating.
So, went up in a little Hughes 300c and had a ball. What a fantastic little chopper this is. Three blade fully articulated rotor and very stable.
As stable you can call an helicopter of course.
Lots of fun, hovering, pedal turns, circuits, slope landings, hover auto's etc.
:-)

Today on my way to do a keynote for pilots of Qualcomm. Will be fun.

Experience

For those of you who are still in doubt of seeing AVATAR the movie.
There is only ONE option.

GO and SEE it but only in 3D, don't even consider it in 2d.
Just saw it here in San Diego, it is an EXPERIENCE.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You might think it is long.........its over like a lightning strike.

Happy 2010

Happy 2010 to you!!!!

We survived 2009 and now fully focussed on 2010. The end of 2009 has been a bit shaky!
A little earthquake here in San Diego. I clearly noticed it when I was sitting on a bench near San Diego Bay. For a few seconds everything moved.Scary. It makes you realise how small we are. Like ants.
31 december I flew VFR by night and renewed my rating. Fantastic to make all my european friends very jealous.

X mass 2009

Its nine o clock in the morning, X mass 2009 and I have a big grin on my face. Not because there is snow or something like that, but, because I am going to fly.
Yes, playing with an aeroplane , in the air. Doing aero's and making (FREE) touch and go's. All airports are open. Like its supposed to be.

So especially to all my Dutch aviation friend, sorry, very much sorry,.......for you. Sory you cannot fly. :-)
But, I will take pictures today and put them on my facebook. :-) To make U smile as well.

For now, everybody merry Xmass and a happy new year with loads of happy landings.

Phoenix

It has been a while since the last update. Traveling caused this. First the quick up and down to London for Bonhomme's surprise party. This was fun. After that packing cases for my trip tp the west coast of the USA. AMS-SFO-RNO and finding myself in pretty cold weather in Reno. Was my first visit to this special place. I expected a kind of village, but Reno is as big as Amsterdam (800.000 people) its a gambling paradise.  We aviators only know Reno from the air races in september.
I met 2 friends there and we have been discussing nothing else but airplanes. :-) After Reno we flew to PHX at sunday. The South West 737 had to be de-iced before departure. Brrrrr
Fortunately the conditions in Phoenix were much better.....until yesterday. Do not forget, it is desert here. In one night we had more than one inch of rain.
So, this was a shorty update. Now I have to do home work. Learning about turbines.
